T & L Foundry Receives Safety & Health Recognition
Oklahoma Labor Commissioner Mark Costello recognized T & L Foundry Inc. with a SHARP Commendation presented to owner Bill Covington during a lunch presentation on Nov. 2 at T & L’s facility in Glenpool, Okla.
The Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) recognizes employers who operate exemplary safety and health programs at their worksites that result in the immediate and long-term prevention of job-related injuries and illnesses.
“SHARP has given our employees something to be proud of,” Covington said. “It has also helped to significantly reduce our workers compensation costs, putting more to the bottom line. Our managers and supervisors have put the upmost emphasis on safety throughout the facility and are major contributors and enforcers of our safety committee’s efforts.” This is T & L Foundry’s second consecutive two-year SHARP certification.
T & L is an ISO 9001:2008 certified aluminum metalcasting facility. The company manufactures nonferrous castings ranging from a few ounces to 1,000 lbs. Recently, T&L expanded its facility by 13,000 sq.ft. and purchased additional equipment to meet the ongoing needs of its customers.
“It’s rather exciting to see a company like T & L commit so much time and effort into their safety and health program,” Costello said. “SHARP is a rigorous program and takes commitment from both the employees and management. T & L has proven that safety comes first,” said Costello.
